Tropical Depression Three continues to organize off the coast of South Carolina. Wilmington, NC long range radar shows the steady development of solid spiral bands of thunderstorms on all sides of the center, and these bands have begun bringing heavy rains to the North Carolina coast. Rainfall amounts as high as 3 inches have fallen just north of Wilmington, NC, as estimated by weather radar (Figure 1). TD 3 is over waters of marginal warmth, about 27°C, a degree a...

I have no idea why I bought another visual novel, considering I found Phoenix Wright so tedious. I think it's because I like the characters design in these things? And you have to admit, the cast of Trauma Center is SO MUCH HOTTER than the PW gang. THESE THINGS MATTER TO A SHALLOW GAMER LIKE ME WHAT. Shame there are hardly any promo pictures for it ):

I'm right though, aren't I? I AM SO RIGHT.

CBS's New '08 Look

CBS08NewLogo_7.19.jpg

CBS News creative director Bob Peterson has rolled out this new logo for CBS News coverage of the 2008 presidential campaign. CBS continues with the "Campaign '08" theme, while ABC calls theirs "Vote '08" and NBC's is "Decision '08"

Sawyer_7.19.jpgThe Inside Scoop page on CBSNews.com reveals that Forrest Sawyer will be anchoring the CBS Evening News tonight and tomorrow night. Sawyer spent 11 years at ABC News, he then moved to MSNBC where he anchored election coverage in 2000 as well as other special reports. He was also Brian Williams' substitute anchor on The News. He owns his own documentary production company called Freefall Productions.

Sawyer was last in the news in December after being injured in a helicopter crash in Tanzania. Sawyer was on assignment for the Travel Channel at the time. He was lauded for helping get other passengers to safety.

Unfortunately, The Inside Scoop announcement misspells his first name:

These People Really Want That FNC App

 • Jul. 19th, 2008 at 10:24 AM

AppleSoho_7.19.jpg

9:45amET today outside the Apple Store in Soho.

The line outside the Apple Store in New York's Soho neighborhood isn't quite as long as it has been all week. We were told these people had been waiting since about 7am today trying to get their hands on the new iPhone 3G. Inside the store it was nearly empty. Then we found out why. This store is about to run out of its supply, which means the folks waiting for hours outside may still go home empty handed. We were told to try the store at 59th Street & 5th Ave., which is also home to CBS' The Early Show. "The line is only about five hours there," a smiling Apple associate told us. This is where we mention it's 95 degrees in New York today.

In addition to launching the new phone last Friday, with a week's worth of headaches for Apple, the company also opened up the iPhone Apps Store which includes, among other applications, the Fox News Channel UReport app.

When You Say Budweiser...

 • Jul. 19th, 2008 at 9:28 AM

CNBCBud_7.17.jpgThe premiere of the CNBC documentary "American Originals: Budweiser" Thursday night drew 405,000 Total Viewers and 181,000 in the A235-54 demo. That's a 5th place finish among the cable news networks in Viewers but 4th place (ahead of Verdict on MSNBC) in the demo.

And the Scott Wapner-reported doc didn't have the benefit of a "Deal or No Deal" lead-in, which usually performs very well for CNBC.

I really should stop watching Joss Whedon's shows, no matter how short or, uh, musical, because they kill me every time. JOSS, WHY WOULD YOU AND YOUR BROTHERS EVEN DO THAT TO ME???? WHY DO YOU HATE MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE?

Which means, by the way, that I watched Act III.

This took a while to decide on, weirdly there just wasn't that many I really would like on a shirt and to be honest even this list isn't that great :\

If I decide to get this shirt who should I get on the back?

I still hate the shirt but it would be weird not to get one, lol.
I'm not even that fussed about football at the min. :O
Last season I barely wore either shirt (especially the away one lol) so I don't whether I'll just be wasting another £35 in buying it.

I know everyone is raving about The Dark Knight and yes, I am pretty annoyed that it doesn't come out here for like another WEEK AND A BIT, but right now? I am more annoyed that I cannot watch the final act of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.

HE HOLDS A PHD IN HORRIBLENESS, YOU GUYS ;___;

One more post before I go

Another flash acceptance, this time for Porn is like Pot Noodle by a cool new venue, Red Peter. I can't wait to see how he illustrates the story. Also I get to send a snooty withdrawal notice to the buggers who've had that submission since January and ignored my polite chasing emails. Perfect!

I swear I'm not becoming OCD...

More icons. I know, I know... But I can stop whenever I want to! I swear I can. So here are a few (60-ish or so) icons: a couple SG1 (from Continuum, but un-spoilery) of Ba'al and Vala, and then a whole bunch of SGA. These were all made for various communities: [info]lantis_icontest, [info]jsheppstillness and [info]stargate_stills.

A sample of my wares:

Tropical Depression Three has formed off the Southeast U.S. coast. Charleston, SC long range radar shows the slow development of a solid spiral band of thunderstorms to the southeast of the center, away from land. The storm is over waters of marginal warmth, about 27°C, a degree above the threshold of 26°C needed to sustain a tropical storm. The warm waters are very shallow, and the Tropical Cyclone Heat Potential is near zero, meaning we're unlikely to see rapid ...

otto the octopus - your friend and mine

 • Jul. 19th, 2008 at 2:31 AM
Otto likes its hat. Let it be known.
Notes :
Something that has become obvious over the last three days is a queue system is only any good if you have the time to fill it up with comics before heading off to a place with no internet access.

Or time.

I've been in Hull for the last three days attending my girlfriend's graduation ceremony, which was rather fun.

What I didn't realise was how much running around was involved before and during, hence the unusual amount of radio silence.

Today's (?) comic is a poster design I was working on but abandoned in favour of something that was a touch simpler.

it's not confidential

 • Jul. 18th, 2008 at 10:15 PM
Two things:

1. Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is cute, and the cast is rocking, but I feel like there is too much Joss in Dr. Horrible, too much of the Joss whose commentaries I have to turn off because of their self-congratulatory and yet persecuted tone, and not enough of the Joss who was able to get beneath the glib and facile surface of things to explore real emotions. So, cute, but with a lot of the annoying bits of Joss mixed in with the good.

2. Probably because I read it out of context, and many years after it came out (and also after I read Sandman), but I was never all that impressed with Watchmen. I'm told this is likely for the reasons I just listed, and also because I didn't read superhero comics when I was growing up. Which I suppose is part of the context. Anyway. I am capable of understanding how revolutionary it was, but I just ... don't care? Because I felt it was heavy-handed and humorless and impressed with its own cleverness. However, the trailer looks like it has been made into a pretty kickass movie. The casting especially looks spot-on.

3. I want to see both Mamma Mia and The Dark Knight, and I am not sure I will get to either of them this weekend. *sadhair*

Okay, that was three things. Oops?
